1994年进入中山大学高分子研究所做博士后研究, 两年后留校任教至今。先后任副教授(1996)、教授(2002)、博士生导师(2003),兼任中山大学高分子研究所教研室主任(1997)、副所长(1998)、教工党支部书记(1999)、所长(2013)、新型聚合物材料设计合成与应用广东省普通高校重点实验室主任(2013);2001-2002年,在美国纽约州立大学Stony Brook分校化学系任Research Specialist;2011-2012年,在美国斯坦福大学化学系任Visiting Fellow。近10余年来,作为课题负责人已主持包括7项国家自然科学基金面上项目在内的国家和省部级科研项目20多项,并参与国家973重大项目(主要学术骨干)、863计划项目(合作单位负责)等多项课题研究,还先后与东莞泰合复合材料有限公司(台资)、广东恒业精细化工有限公司、中山大学附属医院和基础医学院、广州军区总医院、南方医科大学南方医院和珠江医院、广东博迪思迈医疗器械有限公司、广州市纤维产品检测院等单位开展科研合作。已负责指导博士后6人、访问学者1人、博士生21人、硕士生30人,还参与承担两项国家自然科学基金委基础科学人才培养基金能力提高项目,指导的10多名本科生先后获得国家大学生创新训练计划项目资助,2012年被聘为中山大学逸仙学院拔尖学生实验班导师。
